…Graybar’s Zone/Service Center Manager who knows a thing or two about motivating a team. His many years as a youth football and basketball coach have taught him that teams perform their best when all members work together.
Which is why he instituted a cross-functional training program for his location, an embodiment of his personal mantra of “everyone should help everyone.” During these trainings, employees learn about other departments, which improves their overall knowledge of branch and district operations and allows them to better assist teammates in times of need.
Jarett also throws in a little friendly competition to boost performance as any good coach likes to do. Once a month, he hosts challenges to see who can go above and beyond in their daily tasks. Not only do the winners walk away with bragging rights, but they also receive points in Graybar’s employee recognition program.
Jarett’s favorite part of working at Graybar is seeing his teammates succeed and grow in their roles.
“The people here make it easy to cheer for them,” Jarett said. “They are always smiling and laughing, but they also work hard. This extends up to managers and supervisors too. As an employee-owned company, it’s about all of us working together.”
